So far, 2025 has been defined by all things cherry. I’m talking about “cherry blossom makeup,” black cherry lipstick, cherry-red nails, and yes, cherry perfumes. (My favorite is Phlur’s Cherry Stem Eau de Parfum, BTW. It’s juicy, warm, and decadent, and I’ve been wearing it a lot lately.)
Lately, though, it seems the tides are turning and the internet’s love of all things cherry is changing. While still relevant, the coolest new makeup products, nail colors, and perfumes are centered around a different fruit: blackberries. Best New Blackberry Scent: Dior Miss Dior Essence

Loyalists of the original Miss Dior Eau de Parfum ($115) might turn their noses up at this new twist, but I caution them against it. It’s fruitier and moodier than the original, and it deserves just as much credit. The jammy blackberry note comes first, followed by honeyed elderflower, soft jasmine, and smoky oakwood. I describe the original Miss Dior as “sweet.” I describe this one as “bold.” Both are highly sophisticated but in different ways.
This new fragrance is a chypre scent, meaning it belongs to a category of perfumes that’s often described as complex, mysterious, and alluring. They often feature fruit top notes, floral middle notes, and mossy or earthy base notes. For reference, Frederic Malle’s iconic Portrait of a Lady is a chypre scent.

It’s as if I’m smelling the ripe berries as well as the leafy foliage and stems that surround them. I imagine it’s what a luxury bed and breakfast would smell like in the English countryside.

The 7 Virtues is a clean, sustainably sourced fragrance brand. Its scents are hypoallergenic, vegan, cruelty-free, and gluten-free. They’re made without phthalates, parabens, sulfates, formaldehyde, or UV inhibitors and are infused with sugarcane alcohol. Even more impressively, The 7 Virtues formulates its perfumes with over 20% pure fragrance oil for the most long-lasting effect (the brand boasts that its scents last 24 hours and linger for up to 72 hours).
This one, Blackberry Lily, was just re-released by popular demand. The star note of blackberry is combined with blackcurrant (a fruit similar to blackberries, but with a more tart and acidic scent). This makes it especially fruit-forward. However, those notes are followed closely by a sweet and almost aquatic note of lily of the valley, as well as a hint of fresh (not powdery!) rose. It has a serene, almost zen-like quality to it, which is why I think it’s the perfect option for people who usually avoid fruity fragrances.

Beyond simply smelling good, it hydrates the hair and boosts shine thanks to an argan oil and honey-infused formula.

Here’s another perfume that combines blackberry with citrus exceptionally well. It might not list its blackberry note in the name, but it’s definitely detectable, giving the otherwise streamlined fragrance a tart, juicy quality.
