I’ve Tried Hundreds, But This Perfume Brand Gets Me More Compliments Than Any Other


As a beauty editor who’s tried more of the best perfumes than I can count over the years, and with a collection of signature scents that’s embarrassingly excessive, I’m well-versed in what makes a standout fragrance. Sure, there’s no denying that perfume is personal—so my penchant for musks and powdery violet perfumes might not always appeal to those who love bold amber fragrances or woody notes—but having spritzed, tested and worn them all, I know when a perfume is going to be a hit.

However, while there are certain brands that will be (deservedly) recommended time and time again by beauty editors for their complex scent blends and lingering sillage—Byredo, Jo Malone London and Le Labo to name a few—there’s one brand that seems to consistently fly under the radar here in the UK despite making scents that I get compliments on whenever I wear it. Enter: Ellis Brooklyn.
