I Tried The Row’s Margaux—Here’s My Full Review of the Cult Bag

There are bags you wear, and there are bags whose vibes you inhabit. The Row’s Margaux bag falls, unmistakably, into the latter camp. Over the course of a day, I stepped into the fantasy, wearing the Margaux 15 in taupe grained calfskin. What began as a practical test run has turned into something closer to a romantic entanglement (or, at least, the fashion editor’s equivalent of one). It’s not every day that a bag changes the tempo of your entire wardrobe and reorients the way you move through your closet. Then again, The Row isn’t in the business of doing anything casually.

In most cases, I’m not easily seduced by It bags that social media hype has led me to believe I need to buy. I’ve cycled through enough of them to spot the difference between momentary hype and long-term investment. Honestly, though, there’s something quietly special about the Margaux. Although there’s no obvious branding and glaring logo (no need to be noticed!), the silhouette has become a visual shorthand for a very specific kind of person who understands luxury as a language of restraint.
