Tyla Revives an Iconic Y2K Bag (Zendaya and Rihanna Are Fans, Too)
Yesterday, Tyla—exciting pop star, equally-exciting fashion star—was spotted touching down at an airport in Mumbai, India. Her off-duty outfit had all the makings of a great (and cozy) plane outfit: She sported a roomy white tee, and baggy, non-restricting trousers, adding some comfy low-top sneakers for good measure. But it was her choice of statement travel bag that caught our eye. No, Tyla wasn’t toting a capacious carry-on bag, but rather, a small (and hot) designer purse from the 2000s, one that fellow stars like Rihanna and Zendaya frequently love to wear, too.
The much-coveted bag in question? It’s a colorful monogrammed Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami bag, first released back in 2003. During the height of the Y2K craze, stars like Paris Hilton sported said it-bag nonstop—with accessories from that collection remaining hot designer items ever since. So much so, that last year, Vuitton re-released the styles, which feature a multicolor approach to the signature LV print. Tyla, clearly, got her hands on one of the new versions, slinging a small Speedy silhouette from the drop across her shoulder.

Earlier this year, Rihanna took a similar styling approach to Tyla with her LV x Murakami Speedy bag, wearing it with a comfy sweatsuit and sneakers. Zendaya has also donned it in a more casual way, out and about in the streets of New York. Does this mean that the enduring collector’s item is the nonchalant bag of 2025? The accessory you throw on with your most low-key outfit, to instantly punch it up? According to these A-listers, the answer is yes. If you can’t get your hands on one of the new re-editions, start scouring eBay or TheRealReal now: They sell out fast!
