Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Thanksgiving took an unexpected turn when police showed up at his Los Angeles-area home after a bomb threat.

According to TMZ, the Los Angeles Police Department received a call about an explosive allegedly placed in the 77-year-old actor-turned-politician’s mailbox. Officers rushed to the property on Thursday, November 28, but after a thorough search, no device was found.

While law enforcement handled the situation, Schwarzenegger was reportedly at the gym, sticking to his workout routine. Meanwhile, his security team assured police that the risk was minimal, pointing out the 24/7 surveillance and strict security measures at the residence.

The LAPD is treating the incident as a “swatting” — a false report made to elicit a police response. No arrests have been made, and reps for the Former Governor of California have yet to comment on the scare. However, sources close to Schwarzenegger told the outlet that his team appreciated the quick response from police, especially on a holiday.

Earlier in the week, the Terminator icon embraced the spirit of giving back to the community. On Tuesday, November 26, he teamed up with True Lies co-star Tom Arnold for the 43rd Annual Miracle on 1st Street Turkey Giveaway and Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Hollenbeck Youth Center in Los Angeles.

The duo reportedly helped volunteers distribute over 1,000 turkeys along with produce like potatoes and carrots to families in need.

During the event, Schwarzenegger reflected on the first time he visited Boyle Heights 43 years ago to hand out turkeys at the Hollenbeck Youth Center. “I had such a great time. It made me feel so good, that every year since then, I’ve been doing this,” he shared with the Boyle Heights Beat. “To me, it’s a great, great pleasure to donate the turkeys again… because I know this whole season is about sharing. I love America, and America greeted me, as an immigrant, with open arms.”

The Hollywood legend also opened up about his very first Thanksgiving in the U.S. after emigrating from Austria in 1968. “When I came to America in 1968, I didn’t even know what Thanksgiving was,” he said. “People from the gym just came to my empty apartment and they brought sheets, silverware, dishes, and food and a radio. The generosity of the American people was so extraordinary. I’ll always remember those things.”

He added, “That’s why for over 30 years I’ve been coming to the Hollenbeck Center handing out turkeys and donating the turkeys.”
