Wall St opens lower as rally pauses in final week of 2025


[NEW YORK] Wall Street’s main indexes opened lower on Monday (Dec 29), as heavyweight technology stocks gave up some ground from last week’s gains which had pushed the S&P 500 to new highs.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 74.3 points, or 0.15 per cent, at the open to 48,636.63.

The S&P 500 fell 26.3 points, or 0.38 per cent, at the open to 6,903.6​, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 178.4 points, or 0.76 per cent, to 23,414.679 at the opening bell. REUTERS
