Venezuela oil blockade escalates amid international tensions

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — International Relations Expert, Dr. Rebecca Grant, joins “Good Morning San Diego” Tuesday to examine the rising conflict in the waters off the coast of Venezuela.

“Putin runs over 600 shadow fleet oil tankers up in the Baltics, Iran runs some as well. And some of these oil tankers have carried cargo for Venezuela, also for Iran. So there’s a lot of them pushing back. Of course, who’s there, one big customer: China,” Dr. Grant said.

What started as a drug interdiction effort has grown into an oil blockade that includes the confiscation of Venezuelan oil tankers.
