US: Wall Street opens higher on rate cut expectations
Wall Street’s main indexes opened higher on Tuesday (Sep 16) as investors priced in expected interest rate cuts from the Federal Reserve on Wednesday, while digesting stronger-than-expected August retail sales data.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 36.1 points, or 0.08 per cent, at the open to 45,919.54.
The S&P 500 rose 8.9 points, or 0.13 per cent, to 6,624.13, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 48.7 points, or 0.22 per cent, to 22,397.498. REUTERS
