Timothée Chalamet Takes a Page Out of Kendrick Lamar’s Book in Bootcut Jeans

Timothée Chalamet is the latest male celebrity to hop aboard the bootcut jean train. Following Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime performance in light wash Celine flares, we began to wonder: Will men buy into the look? Chalamet is answering with a resounding yes.

Today, Chalamet continued his endless press tour for A Complete Unknown at the Berlinale. Braving the snowy Berlin weather, the Oscar nominee cocooned himself in a vintage yellow and black striped Columbus Crew Adidas zip-up. He also expended his ever-growing scarf collection with the pièce de résistance of all scarves: a white Alexander McQueen printed with black skulls.

But the real star of the show (no pun intended) was Chalamet’s light wash bootcut jeans, which pooled around his Asics: The pants were studded with moons and stars, adding some celestial flair to his already maximalist look. The bold jeans are from Kikunobu in Japan. Given that he was just in the country for more press, it’s possible he picked them up while traveling.

Seeing as Chalamet and Lamar share the same stylist, Taylor McNeill, it’s not a huge surprise to see the actor rocking a similar pair of pants. But there are key differences: while Lamar’s Celine jeans clung to his thighs before flaring out below the knee, Chalamet’s fit looser on his body, though there is still a noticeable flare. While there’s been plenty of discourse about the difference between flare and bootcut jeans, we’ll have to place Chalamet in the bootcut camp for now. Regardless, it’ll give him and Lamar lots to discuss next time they link up.

Later on in the evening, Chalamet slipped into something a little more comfortable. With his girlfriend Kylie Jenner joining him in Berlin, he honored the holiday in a custom pale pink ensemble from Chrome Hearts. Looking like a lost cast member from Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, Chalamet wore a tank top and trousers with a hoodie and even a pair of matching pink lug sole boots. He accessorized with a resplendent diamond tennis necklace from Cartier and a long-stemmed pink rose in hand.

Diamonds? Roses? Timothée Chalamet? What more could anyone want for Valentine’s Day?
