Timex Just Released 2 Affordable Waterbury Heritage Watches—and They’re Spectacularly Simple

Timex is keeping things classic with its latest additions to the mechanical Waterbury Heritage collection. The affordable brand just released two new models, both with an automatic movement, a day-date display and, most important, a rather handsome enamel dial.

There’s the TW2Y94100, with a deep-blue enamel dial and an entirely silver-tone finish, and the TW2Y94200, which pairs a glossy black enamel dial with gold details for a Rolex-esque two-tone look. Both watches measure 39mm across, putting them firmly in the sweet spot for a modern watch that walks the line between sporty and dressy. The stainless-steel cases combine brushed and polished finishing, while a double-domed K1 mineral crystal with antireflective coating sits over the dial.

But it’s the dial that really does the heavy lifting here. Timex has resisted the urge to overcomplicate things, instead opting for a clean minute track, faceted luminous hour and minute hands, and a slender second hand. The day-date window sits neatly at three o’clock, while Timex’s Waterbury branding sits beneath 12.

Alongside the glossy enamel dial of the black model, it gets gold-tone hands, hour markers, crown and bezel detailing, and center links on the bracelet. The blue version is a little more restrained, sticking to silver-tone details throughout.

Underneath all that traditional watchmaking dressing is a Miyota 8205 automatic movement. It has 21 jewels and offers up to 42 hours of power reserve, with an accuracy rating of -20/+40 seconds per day. There’s also an exhibition case back, so you can actually see the movement.

Both watches come on stainless-steel bracelets with self-adjustable links, quick-release spring bars, and a butterfly clasp. They’re also water resistant to 50 meters, so while this isn’t exactly the watch you’d take scuba diving, it should have no problem dealing with any handwashing splashes that occur in everyday life.

The new Waterbury Heritage Automatic is available now. The blue model costs $449, while the two-tone black version comes in at $469.
