The Luxe Scalp Treatment That’s Bringing New Life to My Hair
The Kérastase Chronologiste Longevity Potion is designed to address the root causes of hair aging.

There are some telltale signs that I’m gracefully entering the stage of life formally known as middle age. One is my cultural references, and another is the changing vitality of my hair.
One day I woke up and it looked like, well, like my hair looked depleted. That’s the best way I can describe it—exhausted, tired, flattened, and like it was done trying to be as shiny, bouncy, and brilliant as it once was. (Seriously, though, my hair was so spectacularly shiny in my 20s that one night a guy on the train told my now husband he should marry me for my “superbly sparkling hair.”) I’ve also noticed more frizz accompanying the lackluster strands. And while I can’t say I’m experiencing noticeable thinning, I do have undeniable volume loss.
Like other aspects of knocking on the door of a new decade, I felt resigned to the reality of change. Then Kérastase announced the launch of the Chronologiste Longevity Potion, the newest addition to its Chronologiste collection that’s designed to promote hair longevity.
Dubbed the “caviar of longevity,” the serum promises to “boost scalp vitality” thanks to a proprietary blend of Pro-Xylane and ochrophyta algae. The formula penetrates the scalp to revitalize, hydrate, restore shine, and visibly thicken hair fibers overnight. Convinced, I gave the serum a try.
First impressions: The black glass bottle is chic. It advertises, “I’m a thoughtful person who invests in beauty that promises results.” And because I’m someone who always judges a book by its cover, I just knew the potion had to be just as good.
Now, is it too much of a superlative to say the serum is a total and complete game changer? The results were insta-perfection; I’m talking smoother strands, banished frizz, and just the right amount of lift at the root.
On towel-dried hair, I apply five doses with the included pipette across sectioned portions of my scalp. And you don’t even need to massage it in, though I found it therapeutic to move my fingertips lightly through my hair at the roots. Three weeks in and my hair is shinier, moves with a just-came-out-of-the-salon bounce, and even in the depths of August humidity, frizz, and flyaways are managed. But the best part? A coworker stopped me to comment on how healthy my hair looks, reminding me of that encounter in my 20s.
