Summer Fridays Blush Butter Balms Are Just as Good as You’d Expect—Here’s Proof
Today, Summer Fridays is a beauty brand that needs little to no introduction, especially among those in the beauty know. Launched back in 2018, it was one of the first brands I remember truly going viral as influencers took to Instagram, slathering on tubes of the brand’s now-iconic Jet Lag mask. Then came their extended skincare and body care offering (which includes one of my favourite face serums, the Hydrating Jet Lag Serum) and the cult Summer Friday lip balms (the technicolour tubes have become as much a status symbol as they have a beauty essential).
Most recently, however, Summer Fridays has turned its attention to makeup, with a launch that’s been causing as much of a stir among beauty editors and influencers as you’d expect from a brand with such iconic launches already under its belt. The product in question? A blusher. A cream blusher, to be precise. Summer Fridays Blush Butter Balms may be a bit of a tongue twister to say, but believe me, they’re about to become a staple in any blush lover’s makeup routine.

Bridging the gap between makeup and skincare, Summer Fridays Blush Butter Balms blend a wealth of hydrating ingredients, including hyaluronic acid, shea and mango butter, with lightweight buildable pigment. Each of the six shades is designed to provide a sheer wash of colour which melts into the skin to create the perfect dewy, glowy blusher.
I’ve been testing the cream formulas out for a few months now, and, as a die-hard blush fan, I have to say even I am impressed. Not only do these blushes blur and blend seamlessly on top of makeup, but they also provide a soft sheen that makes skin look plump and hydrated as it colours. I’ll be honest, of the six shades, I’m hard-pressed to pick a favourite, so instead, allow me to tell you why I think each and every shade deserves consideration for being your next makeup bag addition…

1. Soft Strawberry

Soft Strawberry is a warm-toned peach pink and the lightest of all of the shades. On the skin, it offers the perfect amount of warmth without feeling too heavy or overpowering. This, paired with a matching glossy pink lip, is just perfection.

2. Sweet Rosé

Sweet Rosé is cooler than Soft Strawberry, and so it translates as slightly more pastel-toned on the skin. This would be a great option for pale skin tones or for wearing with a cool-toned eye look for a 90s-inspired look.

3. Pink Sunset

If you’re someone who likes their blush with plenty of pop, Pink Sunset is for you. A warm-toned pink that verges slightly into coral territory, it offers a strong wash of colour with the same glassy finish that all the Butter Balms provide.

Okay, I know I said I couldn’t pick a favourite; however, if you really pushed me, Toasted Terracotta would win. A dark peach shade with warm brown undertones, it gives the skin the most natural-looking flush with plenty of glow.

5. Dusty Rose

There’s no better description of Dusty Rose than the name itself. A warm, rosy, reddish-pink blush, it gives the skin a healthy-looking flush perfect for wearing every day. If you planned to blind buy one of these blushes, this is the shade I’d suggest you opt for, as the classic tone is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

6. Berry Spritz

Lastly, we have the darkest of all six shades, Berry Spritz. A rich, plummy purple, this would be my top pick for darker skin tones or those who prefer a stronger blush look. Yet, don’t let the dark tone intimidate you; much like all the Blush Balms, the formula is sheer on first application, meaning you can go in light and build it up until you reach your desired pigment.
