Sembcorp wins bid to build 86 MWp floating solar farm on Pandan Reservoir

[SINGAPORE] Sembcorp Industries, through its wholly owned subsidiary Sembcorp Solar Singapore, has won a bid by the Public Utilities Board to build a floating solar farm on Pandan Reservoir.

Under the project, it will build a floating solar photovoltaic (PV) system of around 86 megawatt-peak (MWp) on the reservoir, the company said on Monday (Sep 1).

Jen Tan, chief executive officer of Sembcorp Solar Singapore, pointed out that floating solar projects are “vital for Singapore’s land-scarce energy landscape”.

As Sembcorp’s third floating solar project in Singapore, the company said that this reinforces its position as a leading floating solar energy player in the country.

In 2021, Sembcorp completed Singapore’s first large-scale inland floating solar farm at Tengeh Reservoir. The 60 MWp project was one of the largest single floating solar PV systems in the world at the time of its completion, said Sembcorp.

Earlier in 2025, Sembcorp signed a 25-year renewable energy purchase agreement with Meta Platforms subsidiary Malkoha to build, own and operate a 150 MWp floating solar farm on Kranji Reservoir.

Currently, Sembcorp has more than 1 gigawatt-peak of solar capacity and over 300 megawatt-hour of energy storage in its Singapore portfolio.

Globally, the company’s renewable energy capacity stands at 18.9 gigawatts.
