Russian anti-war activist Lev Shlosberg back under house arrest

Russian opposition politician Lev Shlosberg has been placed under house arrest again after only three days of freedom.

The order will remain in effect until early December in line with a request by the public prosecutor’s office, the press service of the court in Pskov, western Russia, announced on Friday.

The deputy chairman of the Yabloko party in the Pskov region had only been released from house arrest on Tuesday after several months.

Shlosberg was detained in June on allegations of repeatedly discrediting the Russian military. At the time, the social-liberal Yabloko linked his arrest to a video of a debate in January in which he called for a ceasefire in Ukraine.

Shlosberg denied publishing the video on social media and lodged an appeal.

After his arrest, searches were carried out at the party office, his residence with his wife, and his father’s home.

He was one of the last prominent opponents of the war in Russia who had not been detained.
