Olivia Dean’s Beauty Looks Are Peak RomCom Realness—9 Moments That Made Us Fall In Love
Some singers sound like they belong on the soundtrack of a 2000’s RomCom (giving voice to nostalgic characters like Bridget Jones), while others embrace an aesthetic on and off the red carpet that looks as if they just stepped out of one. It just so happens that 26-year-old singer-songwriter Olivia Dean is both. The intimacy and warmth of her sound is drenched in nostalgia, and she has a playful, personal style that matches. Her makeup, too, is worth falling head-over-heels for.

When Dean posed for the cameras outside of a Valentino fashion show in October 2023, she wore a stunning purple, sequined dress by the designer featuring delicate floral details from it’s A-line hem to the scoop neckline. Her makeup look, created with cool tones to quietly offset the vibrance of the eye-catching jewel tones, was created with matte eyeshadow shades. A warm brown shade was sept across the lid and blended out at the corners into a beige. The addition of a smoky gray adds a smoky dimension to the tastefully minimalist eye look.

Dean was photographed at a London Fashion Week Party wearing a disco-inspired look reminiscent of the playful sequined outfits worn by another singer-songwriter with high volume tresses: Donna Summer. This time, Dean opted for a glowing complexion complemented by her signature strong brows, glossy pink lips, and rose-toned shimmering eyeshadow that resembles romantic candlelight. In case you missed it, Dean’s song “It Isn’t Perfect But It Might Be” was featured on the soundtrack of the newest installation of Bridget Jones, and it went viral in the months following the movie’s release. For the movie’s premiere, Dean stepped in front of the cameras wearing The Own Studio’s The Curve Between the Line dress in black and sky-high pumps styled by Simone Beyene. Dean’s makeup, also by Engleman, features full, fluffy brows, glossy mahogany lips, and a pearlescent highlighter to put her cheekbones on display.
