Iran welcomes Gaza deal, warns against broken Israeli promises

Iran has welcomed the agreement to end the Gaza conflict, but at the same time warned of a possible breach of Israeli commitments.

"Tehran supports any initiative that stops the genocide, ensures the complete withdrawal of the occupying forces, and enables humanitarian aid," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

However, all parties involved should remain vigilant against Israel's deception and unreliability, the ministry said, according to the ISNA news agency.

Tehran also emphasized that it is the responsibility of the international community to hold Israel accountable for what it sees as war crimes and end what it views as decades of impunity.

Support for the Palestinians and militant groups such as Hamas is a central component of Iran's foreign policy doctrine.

Since the Islamic Revolution of 1979, Tehran has not recognized Israel as a state and avoids mentioning it by name, instead always referring to it as the "Zionist regime."
