I Popped Into Zara to Shop for a New Fall Jacket—Here's What Came Home With Me

While I do most of my Zara shopping on the app, I am also blessed/cursed to work down the street from one of the biggest Zara stores on the West Coast, which means occasionally I'll pop in after work and cruise around to see what gems it has in store. With the cooler temps just around the corner, I excitedly took a trip to Zara this week with a very specific item to shop for: fall jackets. After all, nothing marks the start of autumn quite like the reemergence of a topper into my daily outfit rotation.

There are a handful of chic outerwear trends to get excited about this season, and no surprise Zara has leaned into many of them. Hands down, suede seems to be the biggest fall jacket trend I spotted, along with chic cropped trenches and blouson silhouettes that all the coolest fashion girls are wearing right now.

Suede jackets are a huge trend this fall, and Zara has an amazing variety of styles at all different price points. I tried on several suede options at the store, and this rich dark brown jacket was hands down the winner. The color looks extremely luxe (espresso brown hues continue to be a huge trend for fall 2025), and the silhouette and weight feel just right for the start of the new season when it's not too cold and not too warm out. This is incredibly versatile for day or night—easy to throw on with jeans or a dress. It also clocks in at under $200.

I have a feeling this is going to make into my closet in the next few weeks! Funnel-neck jackets are a favorite among the fashion set this season, and this one feels elevated, forward, and easy to style with a whole host of pieces. The color is super versatile, and the leather feels like butter.

I love this trench with its gorgeous cognac hue and chic plaid interior. (It reminds me of the Sézane Clyde Coat sans the $350 price tag.) This is really good value for money clocking in at $129. It's the kind of topper you're going to throw on over any outfit and look chic. I recommend sizing down.

I love a suede blazer, and this rich dark brown one could almost pass for designer. I ultimately didn't decide on this one, because it felt slightly too oversize for my frame, but it was definitely a close contender, and if you like your jackets oversize, then I highly recommend investing in it.

This jacket didn't look like much on the hanger, but when I tried it on, I fell in love. I love the high neckline and waist-defining drawstring. It feels perfect for casual fall weekends and leans into the sportier jacket trend we're seeing this season.
