HERE WE GO AGAIN…
We’re going to have several shots of snow this weekend, and amounts could be similar to what we just went through on Wednesday and Thursday, but there will be a few differences.
First, an Arctic cold front will come through mid to late morning. That can drop a quick fresh coating to an inch or 2, but it will allow the colder air to filter in during this afternoon. That means a break in the snow around midday, but that’s when highs will be achieved in the upper 20s to low 30s, and then they just drop in the afternoon.
Stage 2 is a clipper system which will spread light snow over the area late afternoon and evening, and again, a coating to an inch or 2 could result from this.
Stage 3 is the lake effect snow Saturday night into Late Sunday night/Monday morning. Models are agreeing that the bands don’t stay long in Erie or along the lakeshore and fall into the snowbelts and reside there for the duration of the storm.
That makes our accumulations forecast by early Monday morning favor the snowbelts again, with the heaviest accumulations.
Here are a few additional facts and thoughts…
-
It will be very cold Saturday night through Sunday night. Perhaps some of the coldest air we’ve seen yet.
-
This will drive wind chill factors or feels like temperatures to near or below zero during that time period.
-
But the cold won’t last long.
-
Temps will steadily warm up after Monday into the 30s and 40s Tuesday through Thursday.
-
So this is typical December weather around here, nothing unusual.
-
Erie again does NOT look like it’s going to get hammered with snow.
-
It will be blustery at times, but not as wicked as last week.
-
Use common sense in traveling and going outside.
-
We will keep you updated and make any adjustments that are necessary over the weekend
