Dark Circles, Who? This Derm-Recommended Eye Cream Is the Most Impressive Around
I can count the number of skincare brands I wholeheartedly trust on one hand and Medik8 is one of them. The C-Tetra serum unlocked a glow I didn’t know was possible, while the Crystal Retinal Serum is highly acclaimed amongst skincare experts and editors alike.
I’ve been using both in my routine lately but felt like my eye area was in need of some extra help. I’ve always overlooked eye creams, so I tried adding the Medik8 Crystal Retinal Ceramide Eye Cream (was £42, now £34) into my routine, and honestly? I was shocked at how effective it is.
And when I recently saw this insider-favourite eye cream was in the Amazon Prime Day Sale (with reduced prices available to all Amazon Prime customers—more details below), I figured now was the time to share my findings with the world. Scroll ahead for my honest review and those all-important before and after pictures.
Medik8 Crystal Retinal Ceramide Eye Cream
Medik8
Crystal Retinal Ceramide 3 Eye Cream
Pros
- Helps to plump fine lines and wrinkles
- Brightens the eye area
- Reduces puffiness
- Comes in three different strengths depending on your retinal tolerance
Cons
- Price is on the premium side
- As with any retinoid product, it can take time to see full results
The Formula
Key ingredients: Retinaldehyde, ceramides, hyaluronic acid spheres, chamomile extract
This derm-loved eye cream contains retinaldehyde (a form of retinoid, that is more effective than retinol) to help plump fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes. It also contains soothing ceramides to help combat irritation and soothe the eye area. Meanwhile, hyaluronic acid and chamomile help to hydrate, plump and soothe the skin around the eyes. The cream itself has a yellow tint and sinks quickly into the eye area, leaving it looking visibly more hydrated and plump.
Like Medik8’s Crystal Retinal Serum, Medik8’s eye cream comes in varying strengths, so depending on your experience with using a retinoid product (such as retinol, retinal and tretinoin), you can pick the best one for your skin. The eye cream comes in three strengths and the idea is that you can go up the ladder as your skin adjusts. Typically, with any retinoid product, you want to start by using it once or twice and week and gradually build up as your skin tolerates it until you can apply it every day.
Beginner: Medik8’s Crystal Retinal Ceramide Eye Cream 3 (was £42, now £34)
Intermediate: Medik8’s Crystal Retinal Ceramide Eye Cream 6 (was £55, now £44)
Advanced: Medik8’s Crystal Retinal Ceramide Eye Cream 10 (was £70, now £56)
Before Using the Eye Cream
Two months ago, prior to using the Medik8 eye cream, I had some fine lines appearing around my eyes and I felt like my dark circles had become more prominent.
After Two Months
After using the Medik8 eye cream for two months, I noticed that the fine lines around my eyes looked less noticeable, my skin possessed more of a glow around the eye area and my dark circles also looked a little brighter.
The Verdict
Having incorporated the Medik8 Crystal Retinal Ceramide Eye Cream into my skincare routine, I’ve seen a notable difference after two months. I’ve not had Botox for over a year and was considering booking in, but I’ve seen such an improvement that I’m going to hold off for now. Of course, no eye cream can ever recreate the same effect as Botox, but I definitely have noticed a softening of the lines around my eyes, my skin looks smoother and glowier, and meanwhile, my dark circles even look a little brighter too.
I already use the Medik8 Crystal Retinal Serum in strength number six, so I also opted for the same strength in the eye cream. I started by using it a couple of times a week and then built up to applying it every night before bed. I’m someone with sensitive skin that is easily irritated, but I didn’t experience any irritation from using this eye cream, which is a big win.
Yes, while this eye cream might be on the expensive side, it’s a safe bet if you want results (Medik8 has a tonne of clinical trials that prove it actually works). It is a worthwhile investment if you want an eye cream for dark circles and treating lines around the eyes.
