Boxer Floyd Mayweather opens Tel Aviv Stock Exchange
Mayweather, who is in Israel as part of a private delegation aimed at enhancing the country’s international image, attended the ceremony as a guest of honor.
Legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather kicked off trading at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) on Monday morning.
The opening ceremony featured Mayweather, a former world champion boxer, who was joined by IDF soldiers currently serving on the front lines since the October 7 massacre.
Mayweather, who is in Israel as part of a private delegation aimed at enhancing the country’s international image, attended the ceremony as a guest of honor.
In his remarks, Mayweather expressed his admiration for the people of Israel, saying, “I love Israel. The people here are incredibly resilient. It’s a beautiful and welcoming country, and I’ll continue to visit and offer my support—always.”
Itay Ben-Zeev, the CEO of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, addressed the crowd, emphasizing Israel’s unwavering strength. “Israel’s true strength is measured by its people—by our soldiers, and those who stand by us when we need it most.”
He also acknowledged Mayweather’s support for Israel, “These are difficult times. Floyd Mayweather’s presence brings an emotional wave of support, especially in moments like these. His resilience throughout his career mirrors the determination with which Israel’s soldiers and citizens confront challenges daily. On behalf of all of the Stock Exchange’s employees—many of whom are currently serving in reserves—we express our heartfelt gratitude and deep appreciation.”
