Argentinian FA head appears in court over tax case
Argentina’s football chief Claudio Tapia appeared before a court in Buenos Aires in a tax case against his association (AFA) on Thursday.
“We did what the judge wanted,” he said as he left the court building.

According to local media reports, he did not comment verbally on the allegations but submitted a written statement more than 100 pages long.
Association treasurer Pablo Toviggino had done the same the previous day.
The tax authority accuses the football association of failing to remit taxes and social security contributions to the treasury on time in 2024 and 2025.
As a result, debts of 19 billion pesos ($13 million) had accumulated, the authority said.
The AFA argues this is a misunderstanding and says part of the debt has been repaid.
