ANZ bank plans to cut 3,500 employees within the next year

[MELBOURNE] ANZ Group Holdings expects 3,500 employees to leave the bank by September 2026, the lender said on Tuesday (Sep 9).

ANZ also plans to reduce engagements with consultants and other third parties, according to the statement, as it seeks to “simplify” and “strengthen its focus on its priorities”.

The job cuts are part of a revamp by chief executive officer Nuno Matos. The newly-installed boss was forced to apologise last month after a botched communication of a redundancy plan. BLOOMBERG
