Alex Caruso Signs Blockbuster Extension to Stay with Thunder

The Oklahoma City Thunder are inking reserve shooting guard Alex Caruso to a four-season, $81 million contract extension to stay with the club long-term, Caruso's agent at Wasserman, Greg Lawrence, informs Shams Charania of ESPN.
Caruso, 30, was first acquired by Oklahoma City team president Sam Presti this summer, in a straight swap with the Chicago Bulls for former lottery pick guard Josh Giddey, who by the playoffs last year had fallen out of favor with head coach Mark Daigneault.

The Thunder, who had included a first round draft pick in their trade to acquire the contract of totally washed-up center Gordon Hayward, miraculously managed to not even part with a second rounder in their deal with Chicago. The Bulls' front office brain trust of team president Arkuras Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley clearly viewed Giddey as being a young-enough asset to not worry about shoring up their draft equity in the deal.
