Ukraine extends martial law to February 2026

Ukraine’s parliament on Tuesday approved a 90-day extension of martial law and general mobilization, prolonging the both measures until early February, the parliamentary press service reported.

The extensions, proposed by President Volodymyr Zelensky, passed with a two-thirds majority. Both were set to expire on November 5.

Martial law and mobilization were first introduced for 30 days following Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022 and have been regularly renewed since.

Men eligible for military service aged between 22 and 60 are with few exceptions barred from leaving the country.

The ban on men aged between 18 and 22 leaving the country was lifted in August. This led to an increase in young men leaving.
