Owner “lowkey panicking” about kitten as she’s forced back to work
A video of an orange kitten peacefully sleeping in his owner’s jumper has delighted over 1 million TikTok viewers.
However, the heartwarming scene has left the kitten’s rescuer feeling stressed as she points out that it’s the only way he will go to sleep. The problem is, she was due to return to work after having time off due to extreme weather in Atlanta, Georgia.
“No matter where I put him, in the bed by himself, his shoebox, or on his blanket,” he always gets on the woman to go to sleep. “I am lowkey panicking,” she said. “Tomorrow will be Langston’s first day home alone,” since being rescued from a tree.
“Where is he going to get his rest? What is he going to do without me? How is he going to get his sleep?” she worries and admits to feeling nervous about leaving her new furry friend, who doesn’t even flinch while curled up near her neck.
Newsweek reached out to @ourfamjourney for comment via TikTok. We could not verify the details of the case.
“I’m sorry to hear about you having to quit your job,” joked one commenter, racking up over 56,000 likes.
“Sounds like the office got a new coworker—he works in maintenance, mousekeeping!” said another user.
A third commenter said, “My cats are 17, 11, and 5. Leaving them for work has been the saddest part of my day for 17 years.”
“You’re his soulmate. Leave him your unwashed sweater to cuddle with,” advised a fourth user.
At the end of the video that has 264,800 likes, the woman considers taking paid time off. This isn’t unheard of for working pet owners, according to a 2024 survey from Wagmo, the leading provider of employer-based pet wellness plans.
It found that 75 percent of 1,000 U.S. employed pet owners have missed at least one day of work in the past year due to pet care issues, with over a quarter (26 percent) missing six or more days. Furthermore, when their pets are sick or injured, 65 percent report being extremely (38 percent) or very (27 percent) distracted at work.

While Langston isn’t sick, it just shows how dedicated owners are when it comes to their pets.
The following day, on January 24, she shared CCTV footage captioned: “I couldn’t leave my baby unsupervised.”
The clip proved she had nothing to worry about, as Langston can be seen play fighting with her other orange cat, Mishu, gathering more than 61,000 views—along with comments from users invested in Langston’s story.
One comment said: “The amount of love I have for these cats I’ve never met.”
