US: S&P 500, Nasdaq opens higher as Apple, Amazon forecasts lift mood


[NEW YORK] The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq opened higher on Friday (Oct 31) after upbeat forecasts from Apple and Amazon helped calm nerves, a day after the indexes suffered their sharpest drop in more than three weeks.

At 09.30 am, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 64.86 points, or 0.13 per cent, to 47,586.98.

The S&P 500 gained 50.31 points, or 0.74 per cent, to 6,872.65 and the Nasdaq Composite gained 356.45 points, or 1.51 per cent, to 23,932.36. REUTERS
