7 Incredibly Chic Pant Trends to Wear Instead of Jeans This Fall

I wear jeans almost every day. Just one look at my closet, and you'll see I am a denim devotee through and through, but that doesn't mean I don't like to mix things up in the "bottoms" department now and then. In fact, this season I'm particularly enamored with some of the pant and trouser trends that have been populating my Instagram feed as of late.

Sumptuous dark chocolate-brown pants are everywhere right now and unquestionably at the top of my wish list, and now that plaid has had a resurgence, this season's latest offerings have me seriously excited to try a pair this fall. Wide-leg tailored trousers are here to to stay (thank goodness), but for those who love a statement trend, this season's balloon silhouettes will be right up your alley. Fall's lineup of satin styles will add a luxurious touch to your outfits, and corduroy pants come in relaxed, baggier silhouettes that feel fresh and modern for the new season.

If you want to give your jeans a well-deserved rest, then try one of these seven chic fall 2025 pant trends below.

Chocolate Brown

Dark chocolate brown is hands down the It color of fall 2025, and if there's one pair of pants to shop for this season, I'd highly recommend one in this rich hue. Whether you go for a tailored pair or softer kick-flare pants, they'll give your look an of-the-moment touch.

Plaid

Thanks to its presence on the fall runways, plaid has become one of the biggest print trends of the season, and cool girls have been ditching their denim in favor of statement plaid pants. Style with a neutral oversize sweater to let the heritage-inspired print shine.

Satin

Nothing oozes elegance quite like a pair of silky satin pants. They'll add an instant luxurious touch to your look, and they're perfect for the festive season ahead. Try a pair in rich burgundy, brown, or navy—and of course, you really can't go wrong with classic black.

Corduroy

Corduroy pants share the same appeal as jeans: easy to wear, easy to style, and never too fussy. Many of this season's styles come with a more relaxed silhouette, similar to baggy jeans, that feels just fresh and on point for fall 2025. Opt for an earthy shade such as brown, olive, or burgundy for a cozy autumnal vibe.

Elevated Track Pants

One pant trend I keep spotting on cool girls this fall? Track pants. This season's styles come with elevated details and fabrics that make them feel more elegant and wearable for everyday. Be sure to keep the rest of your outfit polished—style with ballet flats or kitten heels instead of sneakers and a luxe cashmere sweater or long overcoat to offset the casual nature of the pants.

Balloon Pants

Woman in black balloon pants and brown scarf coat

For those who love a cool statement trend, balloon pants are the perfect choice. The relaxed boho silhouette that's tapered at the ankle, creating a balloon effect throughout the leg, has been a favorite among the street style set this fashion month—styled predominantly with sleek, delicate heels to elongate the look. Mango and Zara are backing the trend in full force with by far the biggest variety of styles I've seen at any retailer.
